Our day is divided up into many different learning times. Students start the day by grabbing a breakfast from the cafeteria and eating in the classroom (students don't have to grab a breakfast if they don't want to). Each day we have a specials class which consists of either P.E., Music, Library, Health, or Power up which allows students who are behind to catch up. During Library time, students will have an opportunity to check out books to take home and read and share with the family.
I'll be reading aloud to the students each day. We talk and think critically about the book we are reading. You'll notice that we have multiple reading lessons throughout the day, too. Additionally, the students will have an opportunity to read silently in books that are at their level each day.
E.L.D. stands for English Language Development. Grammar and Language Arts are taught during this time, along with Science and Social Studies. We'll write each day in many different genres.
